Debra's Early Life

Debra’s grandparents immigrated to the United States in 1914 and moved to Pomona Valley in the early 1920’s. Debra was raised in a hard working family of hog farmers. Growing up on a farm gave her many fond memories, harvesting oranges, feeding farm animals and making art out of mud. Debra gained a great appreciation for Pomona through childhood experiences such as dance lessons, shopping at the Mall on Second St. and yearly visit to the L.A County Fair. In 1985, Debra and Brian were married, and purchased their first home in Pomona, a 1912 Craftsman Bungalow on the corner of Wilson St. and Hamilton Blvd. She worked as an Orkin Pest Control inspector, while her husband worked as a grocery clerk while attending Cal Poly Pomona. They raised their four children in Pomona. Debra’s passion for the arts drove her to start a photography business, which she has successfully operated for 25 years in Pomona.
